SPIN meets every Monday and Wednesday during term time.  The Monday group is a smaller group, and is supervised by a retired qualified youth worker, together with a volunteer, and the Wednesday group, which is larger, is supervised by a retired qualified youth worker, a retired teacher, together with other staff and volunteers.

The Monday group runs from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Sacred Heart Centre, Glascote Heath, Tamworth, and costs £2.00 per session, plus a yearly charity membership fee of £1.00.  It is a ‘drop-in’ with coffee and biscuits for young and older adults aged 18+.  There are also crafts to make and table games to play.  For those who want to have lunch before going home, the Sacred Heart Centre has its own café serving a variety of meals.  The venue has disabled access and disabled toilet facilities.

The Wednesday group runs from 7.15 pm to 9.30 pm at the Coton Centre, Comberford Road, Tamworth (100 yards past Rawlett’s School travelling out of Tamworth towards Burton-on-Trent).  This costs £4.00 per session, plus a yearly charity membership fee of £1.00, and is for young people and adults aged 14+.  Activities include pool, table tennis, curling, craft, table games, drawing and colouring.  There is a tuck shop available for drinks, crisps, chocolates and sweets.  From 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm there is a disco.  The venue has disabled access and disabled toilet facilities.

New members are always welcome at either group, as long as there is space available.

Other activities held during the year are a Pantomime, Prom, and Christmas Party, as well as days organised to mark special events, such as this year’s King’s Coronation.

SPIN runs an ‘Activity Week’ each year, during the summer holidays, at the Coton Centre. The Activity Week is for anyone 14+ with a learning difficulty or a physical disability, regardless of whether they are members of the SPIN Charity.  This year (2023) it will take place between Monday 31st July, and Friday 4th August, from 10.00 am and 3.30 pm. The cost is currently £7.00 per day, which includes refreshments throughout the day and a light meal at lunch time.  In addition to crafts, table games, drawing, colouring and indoor sports, there are usually specialist visitors giving relevant talks or running more unusual activities, an educational course which is internally certificated, and outdoor sports (weather permitting).  We also try to run one outing, usually on the last day of the Activity Week.
