17th April – Update from SPIN

All of us at SPIN hope you had a happy Easter, despite not being able to get out and about at this time. We are trying to keep in touch with the majority of our members via email or telephone, and for those on email, we are attaching activity sheets which you can download and use, in case you are bored and need something to do.

Prom Unfortunately, we will be unable to hold the Prom on 8 May, as it is very unlikely that the lockdown will have been safely lifted within the next 3-4 weeks. If at all possible, we will try to re-schedule it for the autumn, but this will obviously depend on the current situation with coronavirus, and also whether or not we can hire a venue at that time. It is very possible that venues have already been booked during September and October. If that is the case, we will re-book for next year, and all those who have already paid will receive their money back.

Activity Week Our Activity Week is booked at the Coton Centre for Monday to Friday, 27-31 July. At this point in time we are hoping that we might still be able to go ahead with this, but we do not know for certain.

We will not send out any letters and booking forms for the Activity Week until around the end of May/beginning of June, and only then if we know that restrictions on lockdown and movement are going to be lifted by the end of the school year. However, we wanted you to have the dates so that you could book them in your diaries or on your calendars.

Please continue to stay safe at home, and be assured that we will keep you updated as to when we are able to resume SPIN.

Kind regards and best wishes

SPIN Prom 2012
On Saturday evening, 6th October the SPIN Club (Special People in Need) held their annual Prom at Hopwas Social Club, which was funded by the Staffordshire Community Fund. The funding also provided much needed disco equipment for the club, and our picture shows three of the five county councillors who supported our grant with the equipment that was purchased.

During the evening some 50 members enjoyed an evening of disco and dance and a large number were presented with certificates of achievement for attending our summer activities week in August, which was supported by the Big Lottery Fund.

Those in the picture left to right are SPIN Member Charlotte Mawdsley, Councillors Lee Bates, Mick Oates and John Wells, and SPIN Member Andrew Forest with DJ SPIN Member Stephen Reynolds front centre.
